“In the realm of men's personal development, confusion, complexity, and inaccessibility are far too common. It's time for a change.”

His-story…
Laurence H Johns is a London born men’s personal development specialist, mentor and founder who has spent more than 25 years working with men and exploring what helps them create meaningful and lasting change.
He began working in men’s personal development more than a quarter of a century ago, following his own experiences of personal and professional upheaval and his introduction to men’s work. Since then, he has worked with men across a wide range of backgrounds, from those navigating major transitions in their lives to founders, leaders and high-performing men looking for greater clarity, alignment and purpose.
Over that time, Laurence has trained extensively in men’s group leadership, facilitation and personal development. His work draws on more than two decades of practical experience alongside Jungian psychology, archetypal work, shadow work and models of adult development. He is a senior leader and leader trainer within the ManKind Project, the older mens personal development organisation in the world and regularly leads and trains men in both small-groups and large experiential settings.
Laurence is the founder of Doing The Work, through which he works privately with a small number of men through consultation, mentoring, advisory work and bespoke developmental experiences. His approach focuses on helping men understand who they are, who they have had to become, and how to build lives that are increasingly congruent with the men they want to be.
He is also the co-founder of Masculinity X, a grassroots, not-for-profit men’s movement working to make peer-facilitated men’s personal development available in local communities regardless of a man’s ability to pay. Its long-term ambition is to help put one million men into men’s groups.
Laurence is best known for making men’s work practical, direct and accessible. His work challenges both the idea that men need fixing and the tendency for personal development to become endless self-analysis without meaningful change. His underlying belief is simple: men are not the problem to be solved; men can be part of the medicine.
Alongside his private work, Laurence develops and trains men to lead groups, supports the growth of community-based men’s work and continues to explore how the knowledge traditionally held by specialists can be turned into practices that ordinary men can use to support one another.
He lives in London with his family. He is a father, skateboarder, a lifelong student of men and masculinity, and still doing the work himself.
“After 23 years walking this path – On my own and with other men – I’ve seen what works. The patterns. The themes. The real journey. When taken in the right order, at the right pace, it can save a man decades. I’m on a mission to rewrite the story of men’s personal development and make it accessible to all.”
