Interventions

Two forms of concentrated work.

Critical Interventions — for consequential situations requiring direct involvement.

Deep Work Sessions — for specific developmental blockages requiring in-person experiential work.

Critical Interventions

For men facing a situation that can no longer be allowed to continue.

A pattern, behaviour or failure to act is now carrying serious consequences — for the man, his business, leadership or relationships.

When It Is Used

A Critical Intervention may be appropriate where:

  • a significant decision is repeatedly being avoided

  • procrastination or inaction is creating material consequences

  • an established way of operating is damaging leadership, business or important relationships

  • the man's usual strategies are preventing him from dealing effectively with the situation

How It Works

The first stage is an assessment of the situation, what is at stake and whether the work is appropriate.

The intervention is then designed around the circumstances and may include:

  • concentrated private sessions

  • direct access to Laurence

  • work over several days

  • travel

  • work within the client's environment

  • Laurence temporarily basing himself alongside the client

The work focuses on identifying and interrupting the pattern contributing to the situation, establishing what is preventing effective action, making the necessary decisions and implementing a way forward.

There is no standard duration, location or format.

Boundaries

Critical Interventions are not emergency, psychiatric, clinical, therapeutic or addiction services.

Matters requiring specialist clinical or therapeutic expertise fall outside this work.

Commitment

Individually scoped.

From £10,000.

Travel and significant external costs are additional where applicable.

Deep Work Sessions

A bespoke, in-person piece of psychodynamic men's work focused on a specific developmental blockage.

When It Is Used

Deep Work may be appropriate when a man:

  • can identify a specific issue, pattern or blockage he wants to address

  • already understands the issue intellectually but remains affected by it

  • has reached the limit of what further conversation is likely to change

  • wants to work directly and experientially with the issue

How It Works

There is preparatory work before the session.

The core engagement is typically one dedicated day, in person, in a space provided by Laurence.

The work is designed around the specific issue and may draw on experiential and shadow-work approaches developed through more than two decades of men's work.

Where the work requires it, Laurence assembles additional facilitators and support staff.

The intended outcome is a significant emotional shift, a clearer understanding of the blockage and its origins, and an understanding of how to move through it differently.

It isn't more understanding. It's different feeling.

Boundaries

Deep Work is not ongoing mentoring, advisory work or therapeutic treatment.

It is not appropriate for acute mental-health difficulties, addiction or matters requiring clinical or therapeutic expertise.

Commitment

Typically one dedicated day, with preparatory work beforehand.

In person.

From £3,500.

Additional facilitators, support staff or more complex work are scoped separately.
